Except The Athletic is the only major sports publication to my knowledge that has a model not based on maximizing clicks. They want people to subscribe. The benefit of this model is that it incentivizes real, non-sensationalized reporting.
I don't subscribe, but based on their reputation and who they've hired, I'm very much inclined to believe this isn't made up shit.
Also players denying it doesn't mean this isn't true. I mean logically, there are absolutely people in that locker room annoyed with Durant. Even if he's truly hurt, not everyone is going to be mature and patient enough to be feeling warm and fuzzy about him in the heat of the moment while he has one foot out the door.
在我的认知中，除了《The Athletic》是一个主要大众体育媒体之外，他们也不为点击量去炮制文章的，他们更希望的是人们去订阅他们的媒体，这样的好处就是他们可以激励那些真实、并非耸人听闻的报道更多的出现。

One would think the players would understand.
Calf injuries are very tricky and prone to serious re-injury. Durant could pull an Isaiah Thomas and fuck up the rest of his career here.
I completely understand why he is not playing, unless these guys want to pony up the $100mm it will cost Durant if he tears his calf severely and can't play for a year or something.

imo it'll also reflect well on his legacy if he misses the series and the warriors lose. better than if he came back and they still lost.
when people say the warriors would've won rings just fine without durant. the hard counter will be 2019 (although i think the warriors would've had more depth if they didn't have durant)

When everyone else is playing injured you start to question. Finals are a high tension situation, people aren’t going to think to logically.

Well, after reading the article,it pretty much says that players are confused for the game rotations since they don't know who is going to be out there next game. They're probably referring to the entire series until now because of Klay, Looney and kd's absence.
It doesn't say much about the kd situation except that players are frustrated since they expected kd to return already but trainer says he's just not ready. I personally believe that there is nothing against kd, players are just confused with his injury like most warriors fans because of the updates and "hope" they've giving to us that he'll comeback sometime.
