I’ll always love Kyrie, but yeah it’s obvious looking back that his style of play didn’t fit the team like Kemba’s. Kemba is very quick to give the ball up and let other guys work, and his spot ups are key. When we need a basket he can get one with an iso.

FVV struggling was more surprising than Siakam. We have good defenders to throw at Siakam but expected FVV to go off. Kemba and Wanamaker did a great job of containing him

This series is far from over, but this is a terrible match up for the Raps. They rely way too much on offball movement, drive n kicks, and transition offense, which won't work vs defenders like Smart, Tatum, and Brown. You have to beat the Celts in the paint and I just don't see Raps ever being able to do that. Siakam is a twig and Gasol/Ibaka are too old to bang down low.

Siakam can’t even post up on Smart, and Ibaka gets way too frustrated against an undersized Theis.
The Celtics’ biggest weakness coming into the season was controlling the paint. If we can do that against a team, we absolutely dominate the perimeter

Other than the turnovers the Celtics actually did play well. Good defense and good passing/movement on offense for most of the game. Wannamaker and Smart hitting shots was a good sign for them

Boston's perimeter D and overall length is a problem for us. Fred and Kyle have a much harder time finding gaps, and if nobody is hitting their3's it just compounds the issue. Gasol has got to at least be a threat from the top of the arc, otherwise Theis will continue to be able to sag off and clog up the paint whenever he wants.

I thought the absence of Hayward and the Celtics’ terrible bench would result in some closer games. It’s still early, but the Raps’ halfcourt is still mediocre as you mentioned, and the Celtics’ 3rd ranked transition defense has translated into the playoffs. Raps will be in some trouble if their scorers (Siakam, FVV, Powell) keep struggling

toronto's halfcourt offense (and more specifically siakam's half court offense) against good defenses is very suspect.
You could see Brad Stevens yelling at his players all the time to get back to prevent transition opportunities. There was even a play where Jaylen Brown was complaining to the refs and Stevens was screaming for him to forget it and get back
